Can LED Light Therapy Treat My Breakouts? Here’s What You Need to Know

Achieve clearer skin naturally with our holistic approach!

We focus on LED Light Therapy for the treatment of breakouts, when used in combination with other therapies.

Tired of breakouts affecting your confidence? Treatments that work for some may not work for others, as they may have different causes.

Benefits of LED light treatment:

Different colours of light have specific effects on acne:

  • Blue Light (420nm): is your acne-fighting champion, destroying acne causing bacteria, reducing inflammation, and preventing future breakouts. It also improves your sleep by stimulating the production of serotonin and improves your mood.
  • Red Light (635nm): Increases circulation and hydration and reduces inflammation and swelling triggers linked to acne, some types of pigmentation and scarring which is why this wonder light is used in most treatments. It restores cell function and provides essential Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) energy to the mitochondria for cellular repair and regeneration and removal of waste material.
  • Near Infrared (830nm): The gentle pulsating action penetrates the deepest into the dermis where it supplies ATP energy to the cells to regenerate and repair cells, calming inflammation. This helps redness, irritation and acne breakouts, healing pimples faster, minimising infection and scars. This Increased blood flow and communication to cells helps deliver essential nutrients and accelerates the healing process of wounds and lesions for a clearer complexion.

*It’s important to note that while blue light is excellent at treating acne bacteria, it does not directly stimulate ATP production in the same way that red and near-infrared light does and therefore these two light colours can stimulate Collagen and elastin production. LED light treatments perform better when treatments are cumulatively stacked. Better results are achieved with regular treatments twice a week for 6 weeks to start.

When treating blemishes, we also suggest including a full facial service every 4 – 6 weeks in-between weekly LED sessions.

Contraindications include but are not limited to:

  • Photosensitising Medication
  • Epilepsy
  • Claustrophobia

LED light therapy on its own will not cure blemishes, and is always combined with other therapies, diet, supplements and lifestyle changes.
